About Nicaragua

Nicaragua, the largest country in Central America, is known for its lakes, volcanoes, and beaches, including Lake Nicaragua and the historic city of Granada. The nation faces political and social unrest, economic difficulties, and human rights concerns. Environmental challenges include vulnerability to natural disasters and issues related to deforestation and water quality. Indigenous groups and Afro-descendant communities form a small but important part of Nicaragua's cultural fabric. In recent years, Nicaragua has been in the news for political turmoil, with widespread protests against the government starting in 2018, leading to a crackdown on dissent.

Our focus in Nicaragua

In Nicaragua, we collaborate with ANDECU, focusing our support exclusively on women, who constitute 100% of our beneficiaries. Our efforts are directed towards establishing vocational training centers and resources throughout the Pacific Area of the country. By upskilling and training women, we not only enhance their professional capabilities but also inspire and equip them to start their micro-businesses. This approach is designed to empower women, enabling them to improve their income levels and assert their independence in challenging family situations.
